What girl doesn't love ponies? Isn't it every girl's dream to ride ponies? I know that from the moment that I began riding at age 10, I was hooked. There was no other place I wanted to be than the barn. I would spend hours upon hours riding, grooming ponies, cleaning stalls, and doing whatever. It didn't matter what I was doing, as long as I was there. It was my second home.
And now, 27 years later, I still love being at the barn. Unfortunately, I don't get to spend as much time there as I want, but when I am there, I am home. It is exactly the place I need to be. It appears that my daughter feels the same way, too.

I have struggled with the idea of her becoming involved in the whole horse thing. It's not that I didn't want her to ride horses. It's that I know how expensive and involved it is, and I'm not sure I want her to get started in something I don't feel that I can afford.
Who am I kidding?
We are blessed to have access to the barn that I grew up riding at. The owner is like my second mother. She has always allowed us to come out and ride anytime we've asked. She wants us to be there. She has opened the barn doors to us and all we have to do is walk in.

When I am there with my daughter, it feels right. Like we are exactly where we are supposed to be.
So, we are putting our boots on and walking through those barn doors. We are barn girls an we can't deny it!

Ah, I was a barn girl too! Course my aminals were sheep but still. The only time I didn't want to be in the barn was if it was time to clean the stalls!
PS: I have given you an award! I hope you can drop by and accept it!
How lucky! I was a kind of barn girl too. I loved hanging out in it if there were baby kitties or chickies. Hated being in it if there was work to do.
Loved the smell of my grandpa's dairy barn and the milk room. Call me weird.
I'm so happy you're both spending more time in the barn!
