Thirsties Duo Diaper - A Review and Giveaway!

Next up in the Fluff the Bum Event is the Thirsties Duo Diaper. It is a pocket diaper. Pocket diapers consist of a waterproof sleeve-style shell with an absorbent insert. The insert is "stuffed" into the pocket and then placed on baby just like a disposable diaper.

This an adjustable rise diaper that comes in two sizes. Each size, one and two,  offers an adjustable rise which allows for 3 settings. That's three sizes in one diaper! Size one fits 6-18 pounds (0-9 months) and Size two fits 18-40 pounds (9-36+ months). It comes in eight fun colors and features a Microfiber Terry and Hemp combo insert. Seven super absorbent layers! And with a durable hook and loop closure, this diaper is a cinch to strap on!

This is a very user friendly diaper! The Duo's handy sleeve design features wide openings on the front and back which makes it so simple to "stuff" with the insert, and it makes cleaning easy too. There is no need to unstuff the diaper for washing! Simply toss it in the wash and it agitates out by itself.

I like the design of this diaper a lot. The leg gussets are great for containing any messes and the way the microfleece does not go all the way to the outside of the diaper seems to prevent any chance of leaking. Not that these inserts couldn't contain a flood! With two layers of serged microfiber terry snapped together with five serged layers of hemp jersey, this is one absorbent diaper. We experienced no leaks whatsoever. We even used it as an overnight diaper and had no leaks. This diaper is now in my night time diaper rotation!

The Duo fit well on my Bubby and his skinny legs. At first, I wasn't sure about the fit, but probably because I am used to fairly trim diapers. It's a bigger fitting diaper, and has a longer rise than I am used to, but it fits great. We experienced no leg gaping and got a perfect fit with the easily adjustable hook and look closure. The insert is not what I'd consider trim either, but gosh is it absorbent. It creates quite a lovely fluffy bum!

The Duo Diapers are priced at $18.50 each and that includes the super absorbent insert. A stash of 24 in each size that would last from birth to potty training would cost you $888. (Disposables on average cost $800 per year) That's quite a savings!
