LolliDoo Overnight Eco-Pocket with FLAIR - A Review and Giveaway!

***Giveaway Closed 5/14***

The last review/giveaway in Fluff the Bum Event is the LolliDoo Overnight Eco-Pocket diaper with FLAIR! This is a one-size pocket diaper that fits from birth to potty training. What makes it more eco-friendly than other cloth diapers? It is made in the USA with recycled and recyclable materials!

The outer is fleece made from recycled bottles. That's right! It's made from recycled bottles! How neat is that?! The fleece is the waterproof layer and it is highly breathable. It allows moisture vapor to escape while keeping the liquid inside. It also lets air flow throughout the diaper to facilitate dryness and regulate temperature. The inner layer is available in either stay dry microfleece or organic cotton.

The front closure consists of recyclable stainless steel metal snaps. This is the first diaper I have used with metal snaps and it works great. They are easy to fasten and stay fastened with no issues.

The adjustment system on the Lollidoo is unique as well. It has an internal elastic cinch-sizing system that is neatly tucked away inside the diaper. It's very simple to adjust and there are no snaps to deal with. Once it is set, it's set and ready to go.
The pocket opening is in the back and is plenty wide to make stuffing easy. Although it does not come with an insert, you can use any insert you like as all major inserts fit. They do offer inserts that work great with their eco-pocket: the LolliDoo Organic Absorbency Innie and the Organic Flat Innie.

This is such an adorable diaper! I mean, what is cuter than a soft fluffy bum with a dog and a cat appliqued on it?! It is by far my favorite nighttime diaper, not just because it is cute, but because it is super soft and super reliable. The Bubby has been really soaking through his nighttime diapers but not this one! We have been using 2 microfiber inserts and he wakes up dry every time. He also tends to do his business in the morning and it contains everything and cleanup is easy. We use a diaper sprayer and the mess sprays right off. I need more of these diapers!

The LolliDoo Eco-Pocket Nighttime Diapers with FLAIR and StayDry Liner are $40 each. If you are looking for a highly breathable and highly reliable overnight diaper, you can't get any better than these! They are definitely high end diapers. Just remember, you only need a few in your stash and a great nighttime solution is priceless!

LolliDoo has kindly offered a Girly Overnight eco-pocket with StayDry Inner and FLAIR like the one pictured (left). Sorry mama's of boys! Although, I'd put it on my son. It's under his jammies and real boys wear pink! ;-)

The AppleCheeks 2-Size Diapering System - A Review and Giveaway!

***Giveaway Closed 5/13***

Next up in the Fluff the Bum Event is the AppleCheeks 2-Size Diaper System. This is another great hybrid type system that consists of a waterproof cover, with lay-in inserts. It also can also be used as a pocket diaper, or as a cover for prefolds or fitted diapers. Such a versatile system that you can tailor to fit your baby’s needs.

The AppleCheeks cover comes in two sizes: Size 1 fits from 7-20 pounds, Size 2 fits from 18-40 pounds. The outer layer is made of breathable, waterproof PUL, with an inner of layer of super soft microfleece. The leg openings, as well as the front and back elastic are sewn in the ruffle style, which I think does a great job of keeping messes in while being gentle on baby’s skin. With 2 rows of snaps and wide tabs, it is easy to get a good fit.

If you use it as a pocket, rest assured that the envelope opening is nice and wide so stuffing it is no problem. And you don’t have to unstuff it to wash! The inserts agitate out in the wash. That’s one of the features I like the most with the lay-in systems, never having to unstuff.

The AppleCheeks inserts are approximately 12”x15” and are designed to be folded in thirds. This makes the inserts easier to wash and cuts down on dry time.

The One-Size Rayon from Bamboo Insert consists of two layers of 70% Rayon from bamboo/30% organic cotton fleece. When folded, you get six super thirsty layers. Rayon from bamboo is perfect for heavy wetters. It retains twice as much as cotton for its weight. It also has natural antimicrobial properties which is good for the baby’s bum!
Need even more absorbancy? AppleCheeks has 2 different boosters available: a Stay-Dry Rayon from Bamboo, and a 2-layer Rayon from Bamboo.

Looking for some super soft wipes? AppleCheeks even has those! The 8”x8” Rayon from Bamboo Wipes are the softest wipes ever! Seriously, they are so soft. I just want to rub them on my face every time I grab one, and then I remember they are for wiping my son’s bum. They are the perfect size and I love using them in combination with the AppleCheeks Cleansing Solution.

The AppleCheeks Cleansing Solution is great for while on the go. The 4 ounce spray bottle is small enough to fit nicely in my purse yet large enough not to get completely buried.  I use it for diaper changes, face and hand cleaning, and it is perfect for those all too often boo-boo’s that my kiddos seem to get. Spray it on without worry because it won’t sting. The all natural, gentle, multi-purpose disinfecting cleansing solution is a mother’s best friend!
The AppleCheeks diaper system is available in several different purchasing options. A MiniTest ($45.58)comes with 1 Envelope Cover and 3 one-size inserts, along with printed care instructions and a instructional insert which explains how to use it. The AppleCheeks Starter Kit ($150.81) includes 3 Envelope Covers, 9 bamboo inserts, a storage sac, 3 bamboo wipes and a hemp booster. There are additional packages available as well.

This is a very nice diapering system. It fits well and it is easy to get a nice fit around both the legs and the waist. It is a little fluffier than I usually prefer, but I love that I can just lay an insert in it and go. I also love that I can use the same cover several times before replacing with a new one. Or I can use it as a pocket if I want to. The inserts are very absorbent and even after just one wash they handled anything Bubby put in them (and lately he has been a heavy wetter). No leaks at all. A high quality, reliable diaper!

All of my cost calculations thus far have been based on 8 changes/day for 3 days worth of diapers. With the hybrid systems, it's usually a 3 to 1 ratio of inserts to covers. With this system you would need 8 covers and 24 inserts. Since these are 2 size you would need 8 covers in each size. You could buy 8 MiniTest in size 1 ($364.64), and then 8 Envelope covers in size 2 ($152.72). This would last from birth to potty training. The inserts are one-size so you would not need any additional inserts. Total cost would be $517.36 (Disposables on average cost $800 per year). That's a great deal!

AppleCheeks has kindly offered a diaper in winners choice color and size!

Katydid One Size Pocket Diaper - A Review and Giveaway!

***Giveaway Closed 5/12***

Next up in the Fluff the Bum Event is the Katydid One Size Pocket Diaper.

This diaper is a one size adjustable rise diaper that fits from 8-35 pounds. It features a patented front opening pocket with a super soft microfleece inner and waterproof outer. This front snapping diaper makes changes quick and easy. The gentle encased leg elastic leaves no red marks and keeps the mess in. And the Katydid Pocket Diaper comes with 2 microfiber inserts - newborn and adjustable full size. It also has newborn side snaps which allow it to fit a newborn much better than other one size diapers.

There are several features of this diaper that I really like. First is the front opening pocket. It is nice and wide so my hand fits easily when stuffing the insert. That makes it easier to stuff! Not only is it easier to stuff, it is easier and cleaner to unstuff. The Bubs has been known to have messes go up his back, and with the front opening I don't have to worry about having to pull the insert through it.

The second feature I really like is the super soft microfleece inner. It wicks the moisture away and stays soft and dry next to his bum. It also allows solids to come off easily. I can testify to this, as the very moment I put this diaper on the first time he put it to the test, if you know what I mean! The next time he actually wore it for a while and we got no leaks.

The fit of this diaper is very trim, just the way I like. The microfiber insert provides great absorbency with not much bulk, so these are jeans worthy diapers. Just enough to fluff the bum!

The Katydid diaper is very reasonably priced at $17.95 each and that includes 2 microfiber inserts, a newborn and a one size adjustable. A stash of 24 that would last from birth to potty training would cost you $430.80. (Disposables on average cost $800 per year) That's a lot of extra money saved!

Inspired by Finn Baltic Amber Teething Necklace - A Review and Giveaway!

***Giveaway Closed 5/11***

Next up in the Fluff the Bum Event is maybe not a cloth diapering essential, but is often a part of the cloth diapered baby's "uniform". Perhaps you've noticed that in most of the diaper review pictures, Bubby is wearing a necklace. Well, they are not just for fashion. They are Baltic amber teething necklaces.

Baltic amber teething necklaces are worn to help ease the pain of teething. How does it do that? Baltic amber contains Succinic acid which is released when it is warmed. Succinic acid is a natural analgesic or pain reliever. When against the skin, the warmth causes the Succinic acid to be released into the baby's system, which then eases their pain. Please note that it is not a teether and not intended to be chewed on.

In Europe and Asia, Baltic Amber Teething Necklaces are one of the main remedies for relieving teething pains as well as other ailments.

I learned of these necklaces through a popular cloth diaper forum and discovered that the most popular place to buy a Baltic amber necklace was from a shop called Inspired by Finn. All the cool kids had a necklace from there! Obviously there was a reason why. They offer the best selection of high quality necklaces.

Their Baltic amber necklaces come in  in a variety of lengths, shapes, and colors. You can chose the length and type of closure, either a resin screw closure, or a magnetic closure. The magnetic clasp is a safety feature so that if the necklace were to ever get caught on something it would break away. Another safety feature that is very important is that it is knotted between each bead so that if it breaks, all the beads won't fall off.

The actual "beads" are available in 4 different shapes: oval, round, chips, and discs and range in color from light cream to almost black. There are so many colors and color combinations to choose from!

Bubby is wearing a 13" chip necklace in turmeric and cream. It's one of the lighter necklaces available. The lighter the amber to more succinic acid it contains and the more pain relief it provides. So if you are looking for one to really provide a lot of relief with teething, the light ones are the way to go.

We have been pleased with the results from using a Baltic Amber necklace. As you can see, Bubby has a mouthful of teeth now and really never had any problems with teething. He still wears a necklace because we just love how cute he looks in them!

Amber isn't just for relieving teething pain. They have adult products as well. They carry amber bracelets, anklets, earrings, and a Back Pain Relief Strand.  I personally own 2 amber necklaces and a bracelet and wear them to help with headaches. I believe that wearing them has helped. They make great gifts, too! I've bought my mother and my mother-in-law amber necklaces, and they love them!

Inspired by Finn also offers Hazelwood jewelry. Hazelwood relieves or prevents ailments such as ulcers, acid reflux, heartburn, skin problems, arthritis, constipation, migraines, sensitive and bleeding gums, helps reduce cavities and more! That's a lot of ailments! Hmmmm. I'm thinking I need a Hazelwood necklace, too!

Inspired by Finn has kindly offered the winners choice of anything in stock 16" or smaller!

The iCandy Diaper System by Urban Fluff - A Review and Giveaway!

***Giveaway Closed 5/10***

Next up in the Fluff the Bum Event is the iCandy Diaper by Urban Fluff. This is a 3-part diapering system consisting of a designer print outer "wrapper", with a waterproof snap-in liner, and a contoured quilted soaker.

It comes in 2 sizes: infant which fits from birth to 20 pounds, and toddler which fits 15 to 35 pounds.

The "wrapper" is available in 90 different designer cotton prints and 45 different minkee prints. Your baby will have the most fashionable bum around! If the fabulous prints aren't enough to win you over, the features of this diaper system will.

The microfleece lined wrapper features a 2 snap front closure, stretchy arms, and elastic on the back and front, all of which make getting a good fit easy. What makes this diaper system different than the others is the that the outer is not waterproof. The waterproof part of this diaper is a snap-in liner.

The waterproof liner snaps into the wrapper and contains any messes. Made with PUL, it has gussets all the way around with a soft micro-chamois binding. That means no leaks and no red marks on baby's legs. But the most important part of any diapering system is the soaker.

The hourglass shaped soaker is made of 3 layers of quilted microterry topped with premium microfleece. The quilting ensures superior absorbancy and the microfleece gives it a stay-dry feeling for the baby. Just lay it inside the liner and the diaper is ready to use.

This 3 part system is simple. When baby wets, just replace the soaker. If the liner gets soiled, snap out the liner and soaker and replace with a clean liner and soaker. Since the liner contains any messes and wetness, the wrapper rarely needs replacing.

This diaper fits nicely, although the bum is a little fluffier than I prefer. That being said, it's a great, highly reliable diaper. The inner liner does it's job and keeps any wetness and messes inside and the soaker provided plenty of absorbancy. We experienced no leaks. I also like that you can reuse the liner and wrapper multiple times. That makes diaper laundry loads a lot smaller!

The iCandy is a top of the line diaper. I am impressed with the quality of construction and of course, the designer fabrics are incredible. I can't believe how many gorgeous prints they have to choose from. Look how cute Bubby looks in his animal print iCandy!

The custom iCandy diaper is priced at $24.95 each for infant size, $26.95 for toddler size. They offer several packages of diapers. If you want an entire stash of iCandy diapers, I would recommend the "Mom's of Multiples" package which costs $280 (infant) $296 (toddler) and consists of 8 wrappers, 16 liners, and 24 soakers. You would need an infant set and a toddler set so your total cost for a stash to last from birth to potty training would cost you $576. (Disposables on average cost $800 per year) That's a very reasonable price for gorgeous and reliable designer diapers!

Urban Fluff has kindly offered an iCandy in winners choice of print! Good luck picking just one!

Wahmies Diaper Pail Liner - A Review and Giveaway!

***Giveaway Closed 5/9***

Next up in the Fluff the Bum Event is a cloth diapering essential: a diaper pail liner. I use a standard plastic garbage pail with a snap on lid to store dirty diapers. For a long time I didn't use a pail liner. I would wash it out every time I did diaper laundry. And then I figured out that there was a better way. Instead of having to wash it every time, you can use a diaper pail liner. Duh! The pail stays clean and the liner gets tossed in the wash with the diapers. Makes diaper laundry day that much easier! I now have 2 liners, so I always have a clean one available.

The Wahmies Diaper Service Quality Diaper Pail Liner is the top of the line diaper pail liner. It is made of durable waterproof polyurethane laminated polyester or PUL, the same material most waterproof diapers are made of. The seams are heat bonded and water resistant to keep moisture inside the liner where it belongs.

It is approximately 29" tall and will fit the typical 54 quart pail or a 13 gallon trash can with a 53" circumference. It has an elastic top edge which stretches to provide a tight fit on a wide variety of pails.

Inside the liner, attached to the seam, is a small patch of fabric that you can place a few drops of essential oil, or fragrance oil, to help keep diaper pail odors away. This is a nice feature, as I used to place a cloth wipe with essential oil on it on the edge of the pail. Now I just put it on the fabric patch.

The Wahmies Diaper Pail Liner also has a hidden elastic closure that can be used to close the liner when transporting your diapers. It's also great for keeping odors in if you have to remove it from the pail but are not yet ready to wash.

Available in many different colors and patterns, there is sure to be one to match your decor.

The Wahmies Diaper Pail Liner is high quality and is made to last. It is a must have and a cloth diapering essential. You can find them at your favorite cloth diaper retailer very reasonably priced at $16.50!

I have one to giveaway in the color Meadow:

Soft Bums PerfectFit Diaper System - A Review and Giveaway!

***Giveaway Closed 5/8***

Next up in the Fluff the Bum Event is the Soft Bums PerfectFit All-In-Two One Size Diaper System.

This is hybrid type one-size diaper system that consists of a waterproof, microfleece-lined shell with snap in inserts. What makes this diaper unique is the adjustability. Instead of having snaps in front to adjust the rise, it has an internal adjustable leg elastic design. The legs adjust using hidden snuggers to adjust to any size you need! It actually fits from 6-35 pounds. Once adjusted, it is an easy diaper to use. With it's super strong aplix closures, this is a daddy friendly diaper!

There are two ways that the Soft Bums come. You can get the Solo Pack which consists of 1 cover and 1 snap in insert or the Basic Pack which consists of 1 cover and 3 snap in inserts.

The inserts for the Soft Bums are unique as well. They are extra long so that you can customize where you need the most absorbancy. Fold it over in front for boys, back/middle for girls. The one size insert will work from birth to potty training. Although, they do have newborn soakers if you prefer a smaller insert.

There are several insert options as well: Bamboo Dry-Touch, Dry-Touch, Organic Bamboo, and Dry-Touch Super. The Bamboo Dry-Touch is 3 layers of organic bamboo fleece plus a top layer of dry-touch microfleece giving you 6 absorbent layers when folded over. The Dry-Touch is 2 layers of Microfiber terry plus a top layer of Micro-fleece giving 4 absorbent layers. The Organic Bamboo is 3 layers of organic bamboo fleece plus a layer of organic bamboo velour giving 8 full layers of absorbancy. The Dry-Touch Super is 3 layers of Microfiber terry plus a top layer of Micro-fleece giving 6 absorbent layers.

This is a very nice diaper. The adjustments are easy to do, and completely customizable. It took a few tries to get it just right, but once you do, it is set and ready to go. It is a fairly trim diaper, although the inserts add some bulk up front since it is doubled, but that just means lots of absorbancy! We tried the Organic Bamboo and the Dry-Touch inserts and liked them both. They both provided plenty of absorbancy and we experienced no leaks whatsoever!
